WHEN LIFE GETS HECTIC: HOW DO YOU CHILLOUT?

Sometimes life throws you everything at once! It’s epic- it’s everything you’ve been asking for but it’s a lot to manage, and just to add another element into the mix- we're entering the holiday season too! *Cue high stress levels!

Stay calm, we’re here to remind you, that you are strong, capable and worthy, and that you wouldn’t have been thrown all this if you couldn’t handle it! We want to remind you though, how essential it is to factor in some time for yourself during these times. 

1). MOVE.

Whats first thing to go when work life gets frantic? We all know- working out! But this doesn’t have to be the case. Can’t make your favorite yoga, barre or body attack class? Never fear, isn’t this why the internet was created- to workout in the comfort of your own home?! Ha- obviously we are kidding, but it is that simple. Turn to youtube and you have classes at your fingertips - alternatively your local studio may have videos you can access. Not got a lot of space? Shuffle somethings around and roll your yoga mat out- that’s all the space you need. Need some more inspiration? Check out our 6 minute workout blog post.

2.) BE STILL

Oh this has to be the easiest / hardest one of all, but has the MOST benefits! When we are frantically running from one thing to the next, it’s hard to take deep breaths- let alone notice them. However, taking some time (we suggest 20 mins- but if you’ve only got 5 mins- take 5), and sit in a comfortable position & breath. Notice your inhale, and your exhale as it happens. Without any comment or judgement, just breathe. When thoughts and emotions arise (they will, we are human- designed to think and feel) just notice them/acknowledge them and then release them- this may take time to truly succeed at, but we all have to start somewhere. BREATHE! 

3.) GET SILLY

When we feel pressure of any sort- our bodies respond to that in some way: Jaws clench, shoulders hunch, hips get tight you name it, are energetic body attacks our muscular body in ways we’d never think imaginable. We also detach a little from our true self at times like these, especially if pressures are coming from work and you really want to succeed or if they are coming from family members and you want to keep the peace. Whatever it is, it’s important right now to tap back into your inner child, your fun, and find some play time. We encourage you to turn up your radio and dance around the house, throw pillows around like you’re five, or prank call your bestie. It doesn’t matter what it is, we just want you to let loose, laugh and be silly! 

4). CHILL

Ah so simple, yet when you’re in the mix of the hustle- it is hard to do. We encourage you today, to take 30 minutes pull on your 30fifteen hoody, find your fav episode of whatever tv show you love and watch it! Don’t look at your phone, don’t snack, just watch TV! You might be thinking- boy, no other health / fitness blog is telling me to watch tv- they are telling me to spend 30 minutes squatting while I clean my teeth! Well- we might tell you something similar in another post- but right now - allowing your mind to watch the tv totally- almost zoning out as you watch it- is a form of meditation. You’re quietening your mind, and lets face it. Tv is GREAT! We encourage finding the balance!
