WHAT WE'RE WATCHING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
There's nothing quite like slipping on some fuzzy socks, grabbing an oversized mug of hot chocolate, and cozying up on the sofa for a holiday movie marathon. Here's what movies we'll be watching this holiday season.
This one is easily a Christmas-time staple. White Christmas is an absolute classic, and is chock full of music, romance, and comedy. Who doesn't love a little romance during the holidays? It premiered in 1954 and was advertised as the first film presented in VistaVision - a higher resolution, widescreen variation on the standard 35mm film format of the time. For that reason, it was pretty revolutionary, but it also has a great story, which is what really matters. Plus, who doesn't love a little Bing Crosby?
If you're looking for a little lighthearted comedy, Home Alone is a great go-to. As if Joe Pesci himself weren't enough, the ingenuity and flat out hilarity of the events that ensue leave us laughing our butts off, while simultaneously feeling nostalgic for our childhood.
Miracle on 34th Street
We're talking the 1994 rendition of this classic tale. Miracle on 34th Street is undeniably heartwarming and the ultimate in feel-good Christmas films. It's brimming with Christmas spirit, and it always reminds us the power of belief and the magic of miracles.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Finally, if you're looking for something a little more silly, but still full of laughs, there's always Christmas Vacation - a 1989 film starring Chevy Chase. Instead of focusing solely on the magic of Christmas, this film depicts the hilarity of a dysfunctional family dynamic in a hyperbolized and utterly hilarious kind of way.
When it comes down to it, there's a never ending list of Christmas movies we're totally in love with, but including all of them in one blog post could easily become monotonous. What are your favorite holiday films? Leave us a comment, and let us know.
