NEW YEAR. NEW YOU.
New Year’s is always such an exciting time filled with change and optimism – as it should be. We are all about to embark on a new year, full of new opportunities. This can be a tad overwhelming. After all, you’re likely about to take on some kind of life changing resolution. We have a few tips on how to approach your New Year’s resolution and stick to it.
1) Anticipate some setbacks.
Remember you are human. You won’t be perfect, and you don’t have to be! Nobody is. There will be days when you experience some setback. Life happens. The real test is whether or not you can continue to come back to your resolution, even when you fudge up.
2) Plan rewards.
You’ll be working hard towards big change, and that can be hugely difficult. Planning small rewards for yourself can be an effective way to keep your efforts on track. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!
3) Remind yourself of the end goal, daily.
It helps to remind yourself on a daily basis what your goals are. Write them down on a card. Keep it in your wallet. Tape it on your mirror. Frame it. As long as you see it every day, and it reminds you of where you’re headed, we think it will be super helpful.
Now, all you have to worry about is how to get where you’re going. The print out pictured below can be a huge help when it comes to formulating a game plan to succeed at your resolution. It’s simple and easy to use. For example, if you’re game resolution is to lose a few pounds, as so many peoples are, you could write “Eat less cookies” in the Do Less column and “Take more classes at 30Fifteen Studio” in the Do More column. You don’t have to fill out all of the lines, but once you get started, you might find it hard to stop. Before you know it, you’ll have a full-fledged game plan to get you moving on your New Year’s resolution. You could even hang it beside the card with your resolution written on it. This time next year, you’ll be a whole new you!
