FRUITS IN SEASON: BERRIES

FRUITS IN SEASON: BERRIES

There are so many things to love about summertime: ocean waves, sun-kissed skin, and late night beach bonfires, but one of our FAVORITE things about summertime is the plethora of berries. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries; the summer months provide no shortage of these delicious little fruits, which is why we've decided to take advantage of the summer harvest and post a few of 30Fifteen's favorite berry-centric recipes.

Strawberry Summer Salad

-Spinach
-Sliced Toasted Almonds
-Strawberries
-Grilled Chicken
-Avocado
-Red Onion
-Feta Cheese
-Chef's Choice of Dressing (We like a nice Balsamic Vinaigrette)

Making a salad is pretty self explanatory, so we won't bore you with endless details. Just chop the ingredients into bite sized pieces and toss together with your choice of dressing! Sometimes we like to add in a few extra ingredients of our own, like blueberries or oranges.

Triple Berry Crumble

-1 1/3 cup of blueberries
-1 1/3 cup of strawberries
-1 1/3 cup of blackberries
-3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
-2/3 cup of unpacked brown sugar
-6 tablespoons of unsalted, melted butter
-8" square pan

Start by preheating your oven to 350F degrees. Place the berries into a bowl, and toss them with 3 tablespoons of your flour before placing the berries in the bottom of an 8 inch square pan.
Mix together the remaining flour and the sugar in a medium bowl.
Then add the melted butter to the flour mixture and combine well to finish the topping. Crumble the topping over the top of the fruit, and then pop it into the oven for 35-40 minutes until the berries just start to bubble. If you're feeling extra indulgent, we recommend you enjoy this delicious treat with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
