BOOST YOUR CREATIVITY
Stuck in a creative rut? The 30Fifteen team has your back. We know how rough it can be, suffering from writer's or artist's block. Even if you aren't an artist or a writer, it always helps to have a creative mindset!
Since we know the struggle, we decided to put together a short list of ways that we stay creative when we're stuck in a rut.
GET OUTSIDE AND GET BACK TO NATURE
Sometimes all it takes for a mental reset is spending a little time with Mother Nature. The fresh air will leave you feeling rejuvenated and the lack of city noise will clear your head. Can't get out of the city? That's okay, you can visit your local park for the same effect.
TAKE A NAP
We have a lovely blog post that explores the benefits of napping in more depth (Feeling Fatigued? Nap out of it!), but for the purposes of this post, we'll just mention that taking a short nap during the day is like a reset button for your body. It increases your alertness and improves your mood.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Exercise, exercise, exercise! We can't say enough about how amazing exercise can be for boosting creativity! The endorphins reduce stress and anxiety, and you'll experience an instant mood boost. It's so much easier to be creative when you're in a great mood, so get out there and play some tennis, or take a yoga class.
LISTEN TO MUSIC
Ever heard of the Mozart Effect? It suggests that classical music, like that of Mozart, improves your mental capacity when it comes to things like creativity! Not feeling classical? Try a new playlist you've never heard before on Spotify.
VISIT A COFFEE SHOP
Or a gallery. Take an art class. Watch a film at an indie theater. Read a book from a genre you wouldn't normally pick up. Being around creative people, like people writing screenplays in a coffee shop, can be really inspiring. Even just being exposed to creative works in a gallery or a movie theater can inspire your creativity, especially if it's something a little outside of your comfort zone.
TAKE TO PINTEREST
Create a mood board that visually represents the way you are feeling, or create a board that represents a certain aesthetic. This is a creativity boosting strategy that we LOVE. You can check out our Pinterest here for ideas on how to get started.
WRITE IT OUT
Keep a journal to document your creative thoughts throughout the day. Whether it's the next great screenplay or a new business idea, write it down. Write poetry, events from your day, and song lyrics. Flipping through the journal later is sure to boost your creativity.
When it comes to staying creative, there's no one right answer, but we hope these ideas at least helped! What ways do you stay creative? Leave a comment!
