TAKING THE PERFECT YOGA PHOTO
Yoga photos are all the rage on the socials. In fact, we can't log into Instagram without being bombarded with all things yoga, so Team 30Fifteen thought it would be a good idea to share a few tips on how to achieve the perfect yoga photo for your Instagram account. That being said, there are plenty of reasons to be doing yoga that have nothing to do with photography. Still, taking images of your poses can help you track your progress, learn better alignment, and spice up your Instagram account. Here's how we take our yoga photos:
The most important thing is that you remain safe! Be sure to warm up before hand, so your muscles are ready to hold that perfect pose. Also, don't forget that basic poses are beautiful too! You don't have to be upside down for your photo to look amazing.
Much like yoga, choosing a background is a balancing act, and it can be tricky. You want a place that's interesting, but not distracting. Natural backgrounds tend to look nice.
While what you're wearing may seem superficial, it actually can be quite important! Clothing that is super baggy can confuse the eye and distract from that awesome pose you're in. Also, try to make sure the colors stand out from your background.
Let your creativity flow when it comes to editing the photo! Experiment with different filters and cropping. There are tons of apps for photo editing, so the options are practically endless.
This is the most important part. Don't take yourself too seriously in your yoga photos and certainly don't be too self critical. Yoga is supposed to make you feel good, and that won't happen if you're too focused on the negatives.
