STOP DIETING AND START LIVING HEALTHY

STOP DIETING AND START LIVING HEALTHY

30Fifteen is all about healthy living, so naturally, we're highly aware of what we eat. After all, food is fuel. That's why we're here to say STOP DIETING!

Wild fad diets pop up nonstop and become all the rage. Trust us, we've seen the diet plans that get posted on Pinterest, dictating when you can eat and how much. Not everything you read is true. Dieting is often ineffective, causing changes in metabolism and even psychological issues. Huffington Post outlines the negative effects of dieting in more depth.

Instead of getting caught in an ineffective and potentially harmful diet, we recommend that you adopt a healthy lifestyle. Here's how:

Moderation is key:
Moderation is a huge player in a healthy lifestyle, and it's so easy to stick to because it mostly effects portion size. It doesn't mean you have to cut out the bread rolls, as long as your veggie portion is larger. When it comes to ice cream, stick to the serving size, instead of downing an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's. (No judgement; we've all been there!) Once you start really paying attention to portion size, you'll find it easy to make choices that benefit your health.

Speaking of choices:
Everyday we have so many opportunities to improve our health. Take as many as you can, because small choices can make big differences! For example, as you're running out the door for a busy day at work, grab some fruit for breakfast instead of a donut (or skipping breakfast altogether). And at the grocery store park in the spot that's farther away from the entrance. You'll get the opportunity for a brisk walk, AND as a bonus, you'll have less door dings on your car.

Listen to your body:
Your body knows what it needs and when, so do your best to listen to it. That goes for food AND exercising. Eat when your body tells you its hungry, and stop when it tells you its full. Pilates Nutritionist has a great post about listening to your hunger cues, which we agree is a huge part of healthy eating. Same goes for when you're at the gym. Don't over do it and injure yourself.

When it comes down to it, adopting a healthy lifestyle and consistently eating healthy only sounds difficult, and like with most things, it's hardest at the beginning! Don't worry, though. 30Fifteen will always be here with healthy tips, recipes, exercises etc. on our blog!
