MEAL PREP 101
If you’ve ever been curious about meal prepping, you’ve come to the right place. We know that it’s a common New Year’s resolution to eat healthier, and meal prepping can be a super helpful tool for eating healthier, even if you maintain a busy lifestyle. Here’s our walkthrough of meal prepping 101.
1) Look ahead
Planning ahead is going to be your strongest strategy for maintaining a successful meal prep program. Try making a Pinterest Board with new menu ideas, and then plan your meals out in a notebook, so you know just how much to prep. This will also help with figuring out your ingredients list.
2) Shop ‘til you drop.
Buy all the ingredients you’ll need for the week’s meals, and maybe a few snacks in between.
3) Cook for the week.
In this step, you’ll need to prep your ingredients. For example, you can chop some veggies grate any cheese, and cook time consuming meal components like chicken, rice, or hard boiled eggs.
4) Store conveniently.
We like to use clear, stackable containers for our meal prepping, because they’re easy to shuffle around, and you can see all the ingredients.
5) Last minute prep.
Now that the hard part is over, all you have left is the smaller, less time consuming tasks like toasting bread and reheating the chicken.
Now that you have a solid game plan on how to meal prep, we encourage you to give it a try. You might hate it and decide to never do it again. That’s completely fine, but you also might love it. It could become your new favorite form of food prep, help you stay healthy, and save you a ton of time. If you do try it, come back and leave us a comment, telling us how it went.
