YOUR HEALTHIEST FOURTH OF JULY EVER

Happy Birthday, America! Today is a day to let your hair down, kick your feet up, and enjoy some good old fashioned celebrating! Whether you’re the party type or not, we think these tips will help you have your healthiest, happiest Fourth of July yet!

Keep the BBQ as healthy as possible.
If you’re hosting, this should be a walk in the park, because you have control over the menu. If you aren’t hosting, your food options could be a bit limited. There are still some things you can do to help keep it healthy:

Try sticking to leaner cuts of meat.
Practice portion control.
Fill up on grilled veggies.
Eat whole wheat buns, or skip the bun altogether and opt for a lettuce wrap.
Just don’t forget that this is a party; you’re allowed a bit of a cheat day !

Don’t forget to move!
Dancing, swimming, going for a walk – there are so many opportunities to move your body on the Fourth, all while bonding with family and friends. You could even consider playing a friendly volleyball game out on the lawn with the kids. Even standing can help your body stay active while you’re mingling.

Stay hydrated.
We cannot stress enough the importance of water. Staying hydrated should be an absolute priority during the summer heat, especially if you’ve been enjoying some summery cocktails.

Most importantly, have fun.
Today is a great day to destress and unwind, so if nothing else, focus on having fun! We hope that you enjoy your day off to the fullest.
